Suddenly finds himself devoid of family, and was taken under the care of Madoka Takatori, younger brother of mother Chiyo. His motto is "One who doesn't work doesn't eat!" so takes charge of all household chores in return for allowing to live in the Takatori house.

Chihiro's mother and Madoka's older sister. Suddenly fell ill and passed away. Her parents did not approve of her marriage, so she ran away from home to give birth to Chihiro, causing a severing of all communication with her family.
