5 Best Ladies of My Hero Academia

by Jacki Jing & Lynzee Loveridge,

My Hero Academia is full of characters with amazing abilities and powers. Some can alternate between blasts of ice and fire! Others can explode with a clap of their hands. Not all powers are focused on strength, either. Sometimes nullifying other characters' powers or being able to out maneuver a foe is all it takes, like Eraserhead or Sir Nighteye.

Huh, you know these characters' powers are all pretty different but something about them all looks the same. I can't quite put a finger on it, but something is missing. Oh wait. They're all dudes? Isn't it about time the powerful women and girls of this show got a chance in the spotlight? The story hasn't focused on them nearly as much as their male counterparts but these heroes (and villains) aren't to be trifled with.

5. Ryukyu
We've only gotten a taste of Ryukyu's power in the anime, but I sure wouldn't want to wake up on her bad side. A top 10 Pro-Hero, Ryukyu has taken Froppy, Ochaco, and Nejire under her wing (literally) for their internship. As her name suggests, Ryukyu can turn into an actual dragon and gain most of the powers associated with the mythical creature including increased size, power and defense. Also, despite her intimidating power, Ryukyu is just...really nice. She's going to look out for those kid heroes and make sure they get home safe, like a mama bear...dragon.

4. Momo “Creati” Yaoyorozu
Momo is a sweet, hard-working girl whose power is only limited by her imagination (and understanding of molecular structures). Momo can create literally any inanimate object by transforming her own fat cells, so long as the exit point on her skin is exposed. Of course, making something like a weapon and then using it are two different skills which is why Momo has also studied fighting techniques, including bo staffs. She's also incredibly smart, making her a shoe-in as vice president of her class and a leader among her classmates. Momo is the whole Hero package with brains, skill, empathy, and a versatile quirk.

3. Ochaco “Uravity” Uraraka
Ochaco deserves an award for “most improved” as she's upped her combat abilities thanks to her tutelage under Gunhead and paired with her natural tactical abilities and quirk. Combined, she makes for a formidable close combat fighter. Her ability to nullify gravity can send enemies flying, create meteors of collected debris, or make herself weightless for short periods. It's also versatile for non- combat situations, like rescuing civilians after a natural disaster. Ochaco is dedicated to growing her abilities and becoming a hero in her own right.

2 Tsuyu “Froppy” Asui
Froppy's Quirk is “being a frog,” so respect to our amphibious friends because frogs are awesome. Tsuyu is one of the most mature heroes in Class 1-A. She weighs her options thoroughly and speaks her mind, never just going with the flow. She can keep a calm head when others would freak out and is noted by Recovery Girl has being a leader thanks to her usual calm composure. And that's not even getting into her Quirk. What you notice first is her tongue which, like a frog, can extend way past her body but is also strong enough to capture and throw heavy objects and people. Then there's her agility, letting her leap, hop, jump, and stick to various surfaces. Finally, she can get the drop on unsuspecting foes by camouflaging her body. Froppy is basically a high-level ninja, when you think about it. She might not overpower you, but she'll definitely out maneuver you.

1. Himiko Toga
Settle down there in the back, I never said villains were excluded from this list and I've got to hand it to Himiko, the girl knows what she wants and nothing is going to stop her from getting it. Even if “it” is stabbing someone in the face. This school girl of questionable origins aligned is with the League of Villains and there's still quite a few mysteries about her but one thing is for sure; she sure can wreck a place. During the licensing exam, it's discovered that Himiko has formidable espionage abilities as she's able to use her Quirk to perfectly resemble any person—if she gets herself a little sip of their blood. That impersonation includes her victim's Quirk—she's like Rogue from X-Men but also a vampire? When it comes to a game of fisticuffs, she wins that too, even against Pro Heroes. That's some major villain potential and I sure wouldn't want to end up in a “friendship” with her.
