Older anime fans (such as myself) might have added Argos, the Great Dane from Giant Gorg, Belle from Belle and Sabastian or Patrasche from A Dog of Flanders.

Anyway, while his anime appearance wasn't met with much joy, Riku from Kino no Tabi is a pretty good dog. The story in which he makes friends with Ti has my favorite narration from him. |
