I'm glad SO5 is on consoles and not on mobile, I still don't trust SE though when it comes to game announcements, way too many disappointments. Hopefully, it will turn out good. As for Sound Fantasy, I'll have to download that sometime, I'm a fan of prototype, alpha, and beta games and it looks interesting.

Very excited for Star Ocean 5, it's great to see SE hasn't entirely abandoned that series. Hopefully it doesn't end up being horrible like SO4 was, though.

I'm kinda happy that the Bandai name is before Namco now. For whatever reason, I kept flipping the words and calling them Bandai Namco anyway.
I'm looking forward to Ninja Storm 4. Most of what I've been reading about it suggests this will be quite different from typical fighting games, plus I've been getting back into Naruto lately after quite a bit of time where I was "meh" about it. |

Eh, if it's anything like the other entries, it'll just be *press one button over and over to execute a combo*, *Hold this button to power up*, *press the power up button and attack button to execute a special*, along with some nuances like projectiles and stuff. What I mean is, it isn't exactly a complex game. But, still fun I guess. |

Thanks for the run down on Dungeon Travelers 2. I was really confused why they never released a 1 or at least why I hadn't heard of it.

I was under the impression that Dungeon Travelers 2 had already dropped the ToHeart2 connection while still in Japan, and that none of the characters from the first DT game were in this one.
As for Bandai Namco, I'm still hoping that last year's sales for Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment on PSN in North America might encourage them to bring over more of their "niche" Japanese catalogue to the West in 2015 - games like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, God Eater 2: Rage Burst, and Sword Art Online: Lost Song. |

If there's one thing the Naruto games deserve credit for (and this is from someone who hates the ending of Naruto something fierce) is how they've advanced cel shading over the years, ever since Rise of a Ninja on the original Xbox. They really go all out in making cel shading look more like animation.
As for this week - MORTAL KOMBAT! |

Star Ocean 5: When I first heard about it the other day, I honestly thought it was a hoax, but it's plain to see that I was wrong in that assumption. I'm hoping this turns out a lot better than Last Hope and the cast is written better so the English dub actors don't have to embarrass themselves with trite lines and paper thin characters (people need to realize the choice of actors was fine and they sounded great, it was the script that needed work). However, SO5 already looks and sounds like SO4 judging from these in development scans and what's been described of the story so far. I guess the big release will tell if this will be a return to what made this series so great previously or another stinker entry, but I'm really hoping for the former.
Project X Zone 2: This was the announcement that had me grinning like a giant fool on Sunday. I can't wait to play this as I've played through the first one at least three times (yes, feel free to call me insane if you wish because I just love the game that much) and had been wondering when the next big Monolith Soft-developed crossover would be announced. Of course, much like with Smash Bros. and Marvel vs. Capcom, everyone will be theorizing about who's going to be in it until the final character roster announcement. Personally, I want Kogoro and Mii to come back so they can get a little more development beyond what they had. Of course, their only stake in it was the Portalstone, so unless that becomes the subject of this sequel (and something tells me it won't be), then they have little reason to be involved. On the other hand, getting dragged into a multidimensional mess is the point of these crossovers, so it's too soon to doubt their return at this stage. My only hope is they don't put Sonic in. Oh, and some additional news, Todd. I had always said that Child of Light needed more to it, and it looks like it's going to be happening: http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2015/2982.html |

I would love to see Mitsurugi, Taki, and Sophitia in PXZ-2. Maybe even Bayonetta and Jeanne.
Long as Morrigan and Chun-Li come back, I'm fine. I wonder if Yoko Takahashi is going to be singing the opening song again? |

It is until you fight someone who knows how to abuse some of the more broken characters and pick the more open arenas to fight in so you have to spend a majority of the match futilely chasing them. |

I hope Star Ocean 5 is good, but I'm not putting all my hopes and dreams on it. I loved Star Ocean 4 for the first 10 hours or so, when it was just playing Science Fiction tropes straight--seeing them in a JRPG made them feel new and refreshing, and the planets had great atmospheres (Lymel's planet had such a cool, somber feel to it). It was fun to poke in, meet a new cast of characters, solve some problems and learn their story, then blast off and go to a whole new world.
Of course, once they went through spoiler[that black hole into alternate-Earth] the story started getting worse and worse. After that, it just felt...cliche? But not in a good way. That got long, but basically, I don't know what to expect here, like everyone else. At least they've gotten better at character art. It was a little creepy-looking in SO4. |

The unfortunate result of mixing anime and near realistic character models: china doll eyes. Everything else is fine from the nose down. |

I'm not really buying into the hype for Naruto Storm 4.
Every single game in the series so far has had exploitable problems that CC2 never really tries to fix. That's because CC2 never comes out with patches. They come out with new games. They experiment with one game adding new mechanics and balancing A FEW characters (but for some reason never touching characters like PTS Lee and Mifune who are even MORE overpowered in Revolution) and after that they MIGHT touch a few glitches but that's it. And it's really strange how they expected a game like this to go to EVO. There is no complexity to this fighting system at all. Mashing one button sure makes me think of Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom right? They are going to have to make a complete overhaul on the characters and the fighting system if they want a game like this to be even CLOSE to competitive. For the record I do like that they have finally took the 3vs3 route but if they don't make adjustments to anything else it won't matter anyways. |

Hmm... something about that Naruto Ninja Storm 4 picture is off. What is it, what is it?
Oh I know. There, a more accurate portrayal. |
