Masami Obari once tweeted that male anime characters should have nipples. He has stayed true to his word.

At it's best, Marginal Service was a solid parody of American action movie goofiness, and there's some genuinely great gags to be found in there, but it never quite managed to spread that cream cheese to the edges of the bagel, and thus most people didn't even realize it was in on the joke.

When I heard about the gay robot show I didn't realize the actual robot was in on the gay. Now I have to watch it

Having just seen episode 2, "in on the gay" is putting it mildly. He is perhaps the single gayest part of the show at present. His speech in the episode is almost entirely made of single entendres. No subtlety or subterfuge whatsoever. Its hilarious. Its a bit odd that Cygames didn't have more involvement in the actual Granblue Fantasy anime. A deal that predated their anime involvement, perhaps? Yeah, if they've decided to take their gacha gains, and turn around to make legitimately good stuff- both in games and anime- then more power to them. |

sad that The Marginal Service got ignored since it was good and funny.

Shadowverse is also great and I love it's cast of characters. My favorite is Alice Kurobane who is written really, exceptionally well.

I'm still looking forward to that Zombie Land Saga movie they announced a while ago.

IMO what didn't quite work about Marginal Service is that the presentation was very dry. It may or may not be in tune with the material it was parodying, but that made it not that funny.
The old cop constantly antagonizing the young cop also got very grating no matter how many silly hats they put on them, so it was better when the two protagonists weren't in the same room. I get what they were parodying with that, but it can't be the focus point of your comedy series. |
