I've definitely found the show to be one of my favorites this season. Its factional and complex, eschewing the overly simple good vs evil conflict that so many stories opt for (which isn't inherently bad, mind), but it never feels particularly dense to me. Its also "confidently weird", which I'm enjoying greatly.

There's also Fate/Strange Fake in just a few weeks for anyone who wants more Narita - but this time, with actually really strong production values.

I didn't know who the creator was, but that explains why when I've been watching it, I was thinking that it was both a bit of a hodgepodge, but somehow didn't feel disjointed. It also explains why it has characters that I didn't think I'd like that won me over after getting to see more of their end of things.

I might try again, but reversing by far the best joke of the first episode is such a massive faux pas that its really hard to justify going back in. To learn that its apparently filled with fan service and that the main character "endearing" trait is being fond of children also make it really hard to get back in.

What Yuri scenes?
This entire anime has been censored.

I thought the second episode was kind of awful to be honest, but I really liked Baccano and to a lesser extent Durarara, so now that I realise who wrote it I have to consider watching further in case there’s more to it. The abrupt and unconvincing transition from “all lives are my playthings” to misunderstood friendly neighbourhood boneslinger saving orphans from burning buildings for philanthropic hitmen isn’t making it any easier though.

I have been a Narita fan (at least in anime form) for a while, but from some reason I hadn't heard of DMDP until I saw the premiere at Anime Boston. When someone pitched me the premise for Baccano, I marathoned it within a night and DRRR was the reason I got a Crunchyroll account back in 2011. I'm liking DMDP so much that and bought 8 volumes of the manga, though I don't want to read them before watching episode 12.
I think it's pretty amusing that we go from DRRR's ending theme with it showing everyone in the cast to the current ending with only three characters but I can't stop watching Polka dance... it's so mesmerizing.
