JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is out on Game Pass at the end of the month, so that's cool.

It seemed weird Sting's recent series of ports weren't getting localized at all, but I'm glad they're getting around to it.

so I know how BABY BABY BABY BABY is supposed to sound a lot more than ONE MORE GOD REJECTED.

For what it's worth, "ONE MORE GOD REJECTED" is actually "WAR BROKE OUT IN HEAVEN," but good luck convincing people their favorite meme is wrong.

If Nocturne HD is any indication, the best we can hope for is P3P getting manual skill inheritance in 2-3 months and nothing else.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but between the Persona stuff, the Kamen Rider Kuuga stuff, the Buzzfeed stuff, and everything else, it seems like companies are starting to replace parts of their labor force with current technologies.

It's probably the case. Remember, websites completely decimated their writing teams over a period of months in order to "pivot to video" because Facebook lied to them and told them there was money in it.

I've already seen people who were shitting on Nocturne HD starting to appreciate it more after P3P. After all, dual voice acting was still more effort than none at all. Laughing
Maybe it's a good thing Atlus doesn't re-release P1 and P2, I can only imagine how bad those ports would've been.

Trigger warning:

Shin Megami Tensei > Persona.

I can't stand Persona's social links.

I thought the Persona 3 Portable Steam release was fine. The textures look a little ugly in places but I wouldn’t resort to outrage and I certainly wouldn’t say that the game isn’t worth it. At $20 for one of the best JRPGS ever made? Absolutely worth it.

The part that people have been debating endlessly (and that seems to have split the fanbase in half) is Portable vs FES. Though I would rather see a remake that includes all the good elements from both, I think Portable is the superior product. Tons of QoL updates, a more engaging protagonist (with better Social Links), AND exclusive New Game+ dialogue for the ending. FES has The Answer but I would hesitate to recommend that to anyone.

Crashed against some poor choices and watched some of the links be broken? Wink

It's fun to speculate on this. Many fans guess that this points to a possible remake for Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, one of the remaining Fire Emblem games not yet released in the United States (the other being Thracia 776, which takes place during Genealogy of the Holy War anyway).

Me over here hoping to one day be able to play Binding Blade & the Mystery Of The Fire Emblem remake that wasn’t brought stateside eventhough it’s prequel title with weird looking character models was.

I think the past several weeks have proven trying to replace people with automated programs isn’t a good idea.

No, the long cutscenes bore me to tears, besides, the things I would say are never in the options.

Selfinsert power fantasies are simply not for me.

Why Yggdra Union is being ported to Steam before the Switch is beyond me, but part of it might have to do with its localization: Sting wants input from fans on any possible bugs or issues. So if it does well, it could get a Switch port, and encourage a port of the other Department Heaven games! (Knights in the Nightmare would be perfect for that, as Yggdra actually has her own storyline in that game.)

Both Yggdra Union & Knights in the Nightmare have already been ported to Switch in Japan, in 2020 & 2022, respectively. It's just that no company has seemingly bothered to license either for English release so far, which I will admit is kind of surprising.

Riviera & Gungnir, however, are both without any modern ports.

And of course we have to bring up how Goldeneye is finally back, in all its glorious jank and chunky textures. After doing some button mapping on the Switch, it's hilarious how much being able to circle strafe just breaks the game due to the limitations of its AI. Hasn't aged well, but it's fascinating how people dealt with limitations at the time

I do apologize to the Goldeneye fans; its omission this week is not in any way indicative of any kind of distaste towards it. Its just a little outside of our purview. Also, this week's column was running long enough as it was. So I hope folks have tons of fun with it! It's amazing to see it converted into the FPS control schemes we have today. And to think, Goldeneye was the first big example of a FPS done well on consoles! We've come a long way.

People who choose Oddjob are still trolls, btw Razz

It's also bizarre to think how that game was, at different stages, planned as a 2D platformer, then a Virtua-cop style lightgun game before crystalizing into its FPS form. It also explains why the game has such a modal way of aiming

The game’s main story cutscenes tend to be longer and much more grating than the social links not to mention also have weird dialog choices (neither of which has shit on the DragonQuest) games though.
