I like how the anime LE releases are displayed. It makes me wish I had more shelf space to do something similar.

&Crisha - Were you at UshiCon this past weekend? Ikuko Itoh was there and it was pretty much all Tutu all weekend long.

Willow is a beauty, a box & wrapping / packing paper is the BEST toy for a kitty.
Did you make those "Mini" shelves that let you go two layers deep in your larger shelves? I've been looking for something like that.

in a time where Devilman Crybaby came out and became universally loved, these same people should check out Ideon(especially the second movie),though dated,it's pretty similar in some of the themes. Both Devilman and Ideon ended up inspiring Evangelion a lot

I agree with James about Be Invoked making the entire Ideon series retroactively better. The show didn't age very well, and the lack of shading often makes Tomonori Kogawa's character designs look uglier than they actually are, but the last movie is still very impressive, and not only it made me feel it was worth it to watch all 39 episodes, but it convinced me to buy the whole thing on Blu-ray.

Was it good? I heard the creators and the English VA for Mytho hosted a Princess Tutu panel, I'm hoping it gets put on YouTube.

I like how two of those bookcases seem perfectly sized for manga, and that one of them has Twin Spica! The Rayearth VHS are also neat, among many other good things.

Quote: | the show's color grading is noticeably improved over what's available on streaming via HIDIVE (at least it looks that way on my devices). |
The streaming is the older SD/DVD quality which is what Sentai was gonna release but thankfully canceled that SD on Blu-ray release in favor of the proper HD remaster. Hopefully HIDIVE will switch to that version soon.

It sort of helps if they even HAVE an HD master of a film in Japan!
Maybe, they DID remaster it between when Sentai broadcast it streaming and the home video release.
Over half the pre-2000s series don't have HD masters and they won't get them unless the companies that own these shows A) have 16mm/35mm film masters still existing to do HD remasters from and B) more importantly that they think they can actually make money off these shows and make the expensive of the HD remaster/restoration worth it!
The HD masters are also more expensive to license. There are reasons sometimes why they don't bring out shows on DVD -- or DIDN'T in the past. Now, these licensing companies have heard the hardcore collectors. Most of us WANT Blu ray editions of series. At the moment 4K really isn't a viable option or even necessary. It's the DVD editions that are questionable and at this point there's no point in doing a DVD release unless an HD edition is impossible for them anyone to do and we're seeing more and more SD editions on Blu ray which is better than nothing and takes up less than space than DVD, too! I think at this point only low-rent pirates and people who rip discs for portability hate Blu ray.
I just wish people would STOP with the conspiracy theories that the licensing companies do things on purpose unless it's OBVIOUS (we're looking at YOU, Funi) they screwed up!

Great shelves, I love how the sets are displayed. Also, wow, I haven't thought of Paul Champagne in years. I picked up Eva & Gasaraki from RS years back.
Ideon sounds pretty good. I'll probably pick it up the next time Sentai has another major sale

The Japanese Ideon Blu-rays had been around since 2013. While it seems no one noticed when it was streaming, it was pretty obviously weird when Sentai announced an SD BD for a show known to have been in HD for ages. It seems apparent those were the masters they were given, and I guess they straight up didn't know it was in HD until people complained.
Similarly, the recent SD BD Xabungle release seems to be from an analog, possibly Laserdisc source, rather than the R2 DVDs (there's no HD) - although honestly those DVDs look pretty bad, arguably worse in some ways, so I'm less surprised no one noticed there.
