One small thing: Officially, the female protagonist's name in Persona 3 Portable is "Kotone Shiomi."

I will be cold and in the ground before I use that name. I don't know anyone by those names, they're Minato Arisato, Minako Arisato and Yu Narukami.

No, "Yu Narukami" is the official name. "Minato/Minako Arisato" and "Souji Seta" were manga-exclusive. Do you really think "Souji Seta" was the actual name for the 4 protagonist?
It's one thing to insist upon the manga-exclusive (IE, non-canon) "Akira Kurusu" for Joker's name as opposed to "Ren Amamiya," but now it seems like no one can get their facts straight at this point.

Oh, didn't know the Pal thing had base building/defence, it actually may like it, I am gonna place it in the wishlist and wait a year or 2 for it to be completed, I am quite pasient.
That being said, yeah, people need to understand Pokémon its a game for 10 years' old children, you can complain about the performance, but, complaining that the game doesn't have enough systems or becomes a Character Action Game is silly.
...A better camping mechanic wouldn't hurt it though.

My interest in Palworld has pretty well cooled off after watching plenty of streamers play it. I think the thing that I am most "wait-and-see" about it is how the devs will support it. The company has prior games that it dropped, but Palworld is now far too big for them to be able to walk away from it, and who knows how prepared they were to keep adding to it. Early Access games, by nature, are incomplete and while customers are mostly understanding that the rest will take time, I doubt 8 million people will all be willing to wait, which could make the devs rush out content that is also unfinished. Even if people don't vocally gripe about it, having such high peak concurrent players means that as people get bored after they've done everything so far, we'll probably see comments and articles about how the game fell off.
For Yakuza: that news about NG+ really deflated things for me. There is zero chance I am going to pay for something like that, and achievements that are paywalled is crappy. DLC sort of does that, but it gets separated onto its own list, so it isn't the same. I have no expectation that Sega will walk this one back because now it is something that some customers paid for and they can say it would be unfair to those people that paid for it.
There was a time when companies tried to push back on the idea that DLC was existing content that was carved out to sell separately, but they don't even try to hide it anymore.

And quite naive. Pocketpair's entire catalog is early access games, some of which have been that way for actual years. Craftopia seems to have been abandoned entirely in favor of Palworld. One of their titles, Never Grave might officially release in Q1 2024, but has already been delayed once. I suspect Palworld has already made all the money it needed to (and more) and will probably be dropped for the next quick buck once the hype cools off.
I tried Palworld for about an hour and a half, dropped it to play Valheim instead, then dropped that to go back to Valhelsia, because modded Minecraft still does it better, even in 2024.
I am glad Another Code seems to be getting the attention it deserves, though. The DS was a great system for adventure games, even if the genre as a whole was in a bit of a slump.

Quote: | I love Nintendo and Super Smash Bros, but if I want to use Terry Bogard or Joker, I have to shell out an extra $55 for both fighter passes. |
You can't buy them individually? I know you could with Smash Wii U and 3DS.

Reminds me of complaints I've seen about Sw/Sh and ScarVio about having to go to school and in particular in Galar having random adults jump in and shove you away from the plot.
Palworld's an easy skip.

Should we hold off on Palworld until it goes through a few more updates? It's only early access, so I feel it could benefit greatly from some QOL changes here and there.

If what you say it's true then waiting 1 or 2 years then is the contrary of naive.

You can; Piranha Plant is $5, everyone else is $6 each.

It might be early access, but it wasn't too early for Pocket Pair to start charging folks cash or selling it on Steam. If it's ready for the market, it's ready for critique.

Buying only one or two of the characters misses the point of the game still not being feature-complete without the rest of them. So you still need to pay the whole $55 if you want everything.

I never said otherwise. Someone asked if you can still buy them individually, and I simply answered them.

No game could reach a peak of 2+ million players on Steam just thanks to pure spite. If the game is this successful, it's because people like it for what it is (not Pokemon but a survival game) and find it fun, which is reflected in the user reviews. Very weird to try and build a strawman out of people rightfully frustrated with GameFreak's embarassing laziness. The catastrophe that was Scarlet/Violet still was a massive success despite all its infinitely many problems, so not sure why anyone would take TPC's side and attack an indie game that managed to explode like this. Also to say Palworld runs "marginally better" than those games is utterly ridicolous, you can easily reach 60 fps on low end GPUs while S/V surpassing 20 fps was a miracle.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a funny name given the absurd amount of money you'd have to pay for the DLC. I have no real interest in the game and kind of lost interested in the franchises after the original creator left (and even then the series kind of became long in the tooth before then with the rather pointless remakes and spin offs
It also doesn't help the target audience for the games now seems to be nothing more than pandering to streamers and their followers like Yong Yea and xQc and all the other people who were literally put in Isshin. It was like Cyberpunk's gimmick of having streamers in it but even worse since the original version didn't have them. I kind miss when "Yakuza" was more niche and focused on what it wanted to do rather than mass market appeal.

How is it silly when past Pokemon games had those? The company who said they no longer put effort into the game's content because kids have phones now so there's no reason to include post-game content like the Battle Frontier and other things for people to do. People aren't asking for the moon. They're asking for the series to stop being mediocre and soulless. But given how well Scarlet and Violet sold, I understand they have no reason to. They can put out a barely functioning and soulless game and be rewarded for it.
People aren't disappointed with modern Pokemon games because they're for kids, they're disappointed they're just mediocre. Mystery Dungeon EX was actually nice and had effort put into it, but the mainline games and their remakes have been just terrible.

I stand by the Nyanners and Kson cameos, given that they both are huge fans of Yakuza and have been for ages. Nyanners' mascot is named after Makima, and Kson is just the most downbad person there is for Kiryu Kazuma.

People keep talking about Pokémon in ways that make it sound like Game Freak pulls what Bethesda does with the endless Skyrim ports with regards to Pokémon. Folks are so dead set on specific things like the Battle Frontier when Game Freak went and added raids to the games or, yknow, made Legends Arceus. Scarlet and Violet have a completely new three-pronged story structure, improved on how Dynamaxing works with Terrastralizing, still takes care in world design and character design and music, and supports the game after the fact with actual DLC adding new story, areas and Pokémon (which also add extra mini games). I'm not gonna say Scarlet and Violet would be better without More Stuff, but it's galling to pretend these are "soulless" games after everything Indigo Mask does to establish Ogerpon or everything available in Area Zero. People who actually played Scarlet and Violet agree that the game's performance is the biggest issue, the gameplay loop is the best it's been in ages.
There comes a point where you have to ask, "Is Pokémon mediocre because there isn't any effort being put into the games, or are people just upset Pokémon is sticking to a turn-based system?". And from where I'm standing... naw, man. There's plenty of effort being put in. If you think Pokémon is mediocre and isn't offering enough content, that's a "you" problem.
