I actually really liked Dragon Quarter, though I'll not deny that it was justifiably divisive to the fanbase. My favorite thing about it is how it made Ryu's dragon transformation feel so scary- how often in games (BOF included) do these super powerful abilities fail to live up to the narrative spun about them? Here though, dragon mode was an "I win" button basically whenever you used it...but if you abused it you hit a hard game over. Its an interesting and fulfilling dynamic, at least to me.

While there's nothing wrong with causing Activision-Blizzard to eat it, it feels like this is going after low-hanging fruit. Whether it's a salary cap, luxury tax, "financial fair play" or whatever, most if not all team sports leagues have a method to limit player wages under the (likely correct) presumption that financial imbalances would result in imbalances in play. The only difference I can see between OWL and everyone else is that everyone else probably has higher minimums and better lawyers.

I've only played one Breath of Fire (III, via the PSP port), but it has one of my favorite PS1-era RPG intros.

Capcom, you have sold 4 million copies of RE4 Remake. You have the money to pump out some Breath of Fire remasters, including retranslations of 1 and 2 (and decensoring of 4).

Taiwanese or Thai? Either way, it's impossible to take Blizzard's efforts seriously knowing that there's a diversity chart behind them.

Lifeweaver is Thai, not Taiwanese. One is a country is Southeast Asia that remained independent during the age of Colonization by the European powers, the other is an island nation east of the People's Republic of China, which both nations have a complicated relationship due to the Chinese Civil War and other stuff that would be too long to type.

I've only played BoF: Dragon Quarter. I remember enjoying it, but never finished it. I just happened moved on to something else and never got back to it. I think I remember the idea of multiple playthroughs appealing at the time, but it has been a while...
I wouldn't mind going back and giving these games a try, but I can say that about a lot of series... A remake or new entry would definitely help in that regard.

I presume that Blizzard hopes to get Overwatch to be a full media franchise, but beyond some comics I don't think it's done anything that actually makes the characters backgrounds meaningful. They may as well be throwing darts at a board to pick the character's background for all it amounts to.

Following early OWL, I imagine the plans for Overwatch were to continue to scale up its presence but that thing 3 years ago scuttled their and everyone else's plans.

So what happened to Breath of Fire? Well, Dragon Quarter's divisive reception in the PS2 days were definitely the death knell,

If that’s the case what was 6?

An attempt to use a somewhat recognizable name for branding purposes on a game that has next to nothing to do with Breath of Fire (see characters like Amelia or 6 Nina, who look more like they belong in Granblue Fantasy than anything Yoshikawa touched).

Breath of Fire 5 was a fantastic game, unlike anything that came before it -- which was also to its severe detriment, because fans of the series wanted a traditional JRPG, not a tactical survival dungeon crawler. It's a real shame it killed the series, both because we never got another real BoF game again and also because Capcom never made another game like Dragon Quarter.

Honestly, I almost never buy Capcom games any more, and it's largely because they've completely abandoned all of the classic series that made me a Capcom fan in the first place. Even Mega Man barely gets any recognition nowadays...

Between MegaMan 11, MegaMan X Dive, The X Legacy Collection & the upcoming Battle Network collection.

You’ll forgive me if I as a Viewtiful Joe I take umbrage at this. At least Megaman fans can play some of the Megaman titles on current hardware. If I want to play those games again I either have to burn the isos to play on my modded PS2 or buy the GameCube discs used.

Even more annoying my Bravia doesn’t have composite or component inputs so I have to find a work around to even use either system.

I mean to be fair there are some people who probably don’t consider 5 to be a true Breath Of Fire game because of some of the weird stuff that Game did.
