Since they mentioned Girls Band Cry, which isn't streaming, I was hoping AiPri would get a shoutout. It's my favorite new anime of the season.

Speaking of which, I'm honestly surprised that the K-On! Shuffle manga still hasn't gotten an anime, given the popularity of recent high school band slice-of-life shows. It features an entirely new cast of characters (save for cameos from the original K-On! characters) so it wouldn't necessarily have to be animated at Kyoto Animation by the original team, especially considering that I'm fully aware that current day Kyoto Animation generally prefers to work on their own original IPs.

A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics is also somewhat getting in on the girl's band scene, albeit more as one element of many rather than a focal point. (This is a series which has also spent full episodes on cults and school bullying.) Its most recent episode featured the breakup of a girl band that wasn't being successful, with the implication that the lead singer of said band may not be done with music.

Man, I hope Hello, Melancholic! gets something. It might be better suited to a film given its length, but if they wanted to expand on it a bit to be able to run a full season that would be great too.

I've always wanted the K-ON College manga to get a season or movie. That would be fun

Alas, the curse of the unlicenced Prism series continues. The day will come. After all, Macross is largely licenced now.
Also, curiously, recently I watched It's MyGO, and after that started watching Girls Band Cry. I seriously believe one of the reasons there are so many all-female bands in Japan might relate to K-On! Sure, Show-Ya already existed prior, but still...

Tbf if it’s one or the other, I’d much prefer High School get a film or series or whatever than College. College had the benefit of following more of the original cast, but High School's plot and new characters (namely Sumire) were honestly way better than College's imo.
That said, best-case scenario we'd see both of them animated. Not too long ago I'd have dismissed it as a pipe dream, but if Ōmuro-ke can finally get animated after all these years, there may be hope yet for the K-On spin-offs. And, with the aforementioned rise in popularity of girls band anime, now may be the right time for it.

Fow how much love is expressed towards Game Boy Color (to the detriment of everything else?) the editorial conceit that something can't be watched unless it's licensed is as pervasive as it's annoying.

I've watched the 1st five episodes and I really love these girls. I'm a sucker for a girlband with a little goblin lead singer.

Again, I'm still baffled as to why Toei, despite having subtitles on both the music videos and the previews, didn't license it out to English speaking territories when all three of GBC's contemporaries (hell, even Bocchi, Love Live, BanG Dream and K-On) all got licensed. I can't even say it's that they're not confident enough in it because they wouldn't have subtitled those additional bits if they weren't so adamant in hyping up the series.
At this point, while I can only speculate, it might be down to one of three options:
- With as crowded a season as it is, maybe CR or Sentai didn't want it, and Toei's still holding out for a licnesee? (which is funny as Jellyfish and Whisper are both licensed by Sentai, so I don't get why Crunchy wouldn't want a second Jukki Hanada-written series to compliment Sound! Euphonium).
- Toei's waiting to air the whole run in Japan before licensing out the series to the Western sphere outside France.
- Toei, in their infinite "wisdom" decided to be a dick with licensing as they are with 90% of their titles (99% if you include the stuff they have licenced, but have screwed up/over in some way).
Either way, the fact that GBC isn't licenced beyond the Francosphere is a very baffling business move to say the least. And the fact that said French licensor isn't also doing an English sub for the people who want it only makes it more infuriating.

TOTALLY agree with this. I loved the manga, and I was so down when it ended. A show, a movie, ANYTHING would be awesome!

If Toei has no plans to license Grs Band Cry outside of France, why would they release an English sub trailer on Youtube? Why promote a series if you're not going to get it licensed in the wider Western world?

Shout it to Prime Italy for licensing it. We now have an English title: Secret AiPri.

Again, that's what I'm wondering, why the heck would they subtitle the PVs and music videos, but not license it out to an American licensor?

My hunch is that Toei would have licensed it if somebody wanted it.
But if nobody did, they could try promoting it anyways? (I know nothing about marketing or Toei).

A drink fight in a bar is even better, almost as good as the pigeon - why have we not seen more of the pigeon?
