The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses has some of the best animation I've seen. Makoto Shinkai, Ufotable and MAPPA should take notice.

I still don't think GoHands deserves a hatedom. Fells like you guys are dunking on hard working animators when CG always looked dodgy.
I mean, look at NinysSlayer The Animation, Studio Trigger's inanely cheap adaptation. People still loved how hilariously underbudgeted it looked. Or Ping Pong The Animation which is also trippy as hell. Better for an anime studio to have an identity than to be generic. And I'll have the balls to praise GoHands for not being labeled as a generic studio and at least their shows aren't problematic save for, of course Hand Shakers having possible incest. |

I say let them use all their resources to make another Handshakers or original series! At least that means that they can won’t be able to adapt and ruin other manga! I was honestly so relieved to hear about the plagiarism with X because at least they couldn’t ruin that series now…

Oh and I wasn't joking about my comment. I think they nailed it in this. They definitely scaled back on their crazy camera angles after the first episode but still present gorgeous animation. This is definitely in my top 5 of the season.

Ninja Slayer was animated in that style on purpose, just as with Inferno Cop. The director apparently literally used a d24 die to determine the frame rate for each episode for Ninja Slayer, so the people at Trigger were in on the entire joke, which is why people enjoyed it. Meanwhile, Ping Pong's visual style was meant to be an accurate adaptation of Taiyo Matsumoto's general art style. GoHands, though, generally comes off as though the people making the animation actually think that they're creating something brand new & innovative, but in reality are simply trying too hard when they have no need to. Comparing GoHands to stuff like Ninja Slayer or Ping Pong is a poor comparison, because the former was made by people who were purposefully messing with how things are generally done, while the latter needed to look trippy because of it being an adaptation of a sometimes trippy artist's work. |

I've haven't liked anything GoHands has done, but I'm really enjoying Masterful Cat. The first episode did legit make me nauseous by the end of it though. Despite it being GoHands, Masterful Cat is a charming show and now I really want to read the manga.

I've actually seen two of their earlier projects- I consider K to be aggressively ok- mostly style that doesn't quite work, but some substance to the story. Seitokai Yakuindomo though, I legitimately think is great- its an absolutely filthy high school comedy that actually works really well (and due to the raunchiness, is probably more accurate to my high school experience than any other I've seen.)
I've not watched anything else-I tried to watch Glasses Girl, but had to bail as the camera in the opening started actively giving me a headache. No thank you. |

I legit wanted to watch Girl who forgot her glasses but gohands over stylized animation from first 5 minutes of episode 1 turned me away.

I do feel like Seitokai Yakuindomo is the weirdest one here, because you can't actually call it an "old" project, the last release for it was, i think, 2021. So in the midst of them producing actually unwatchable trash, they were steadily producing a largely "normal" production.
To be clear it is still very definitely a GoHands show, lens flare, needlessly pretty art, odd perspectives, and those ugly ass cityscapes abound, but much of the weird stuff is actually used properly, like the odd perspectives being explicitly from hidden cameras, or using the colour and composition so as to oversell a scene. A good example is the GIF in the article, that shot is part of a joke, it is intentionally over doing it. The real mystery is how they manage to utterly fail to learn lessons their own show could teach them. All that said i do think that the two airing this season, are clearly cut from a different cloth than something like Handshakers, given that SYD has ended now, i wonder if the people who made it are back working with everybody else. As a final aside, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses is fairly mediocre and poorly paced even as a Manga, it's cute enough, but in reality GoHands don't have a lot to work with, the "Hey look ART" approach is probably as good as it was going to get. |

I'm also one of those who watches "the girl i like forgot her glasses" every week and I really enjoy it. Occasionally the characters are seen from some very odd angles, and that's something I don't like. Other than that the background is very colourful and detailed (much more so than in other anime) and the story, which is all about the interactions between a boy and a girl, is interesting.

A long time ago Gohands made Princess Lover!, which has really good animation. So why does most of their other work look like complete crap. Mardock Scramble did have some nice shots and animation, but would also look garish at other times.

"Having an identity" doesn't mean anything if said identity is awful. I can look at Problem Solverz and say it "has an identity" compared to other Cartoon Network shows, doesn't change the fact that it looked terrible. I can look at John Kricfalusi's animation and say it "has identity", but it doesn't change the fact that whenever he actually animates things himself, like that one Simpsons couch gag, it looks like something you need to wash with your eyes with bleach after watching. Plus, being "hard working" does not mean they are immune from getting criticism. Specially in this case, when this look is a deliberate choice and not something that came from production problems. |

I assure you that the real reason why ''Tokyo Babylon 2021'' was canceled was due to the fact the old cast and staff from the OVA was not brought back. Bringing back the old cast and staff would make more sense since Cardcaptor Sakura's Clear Card arc did so.

The thing that amazes me about Go Hands is that it's purposeful. It's not just the bad CG, that's a dime a dozen elsewhere. Terrible composition, baffling camera choices, sickly color design, etc... It's pretty clear at this point that this is their house style and they want to stick to it.
