Found the series to be quite mediocre for the most part, but that last episode made it worth the watch on my book, genuinely well done.

I’ve been reading the manga, which is apparently better than the anime, and the manga isn’t great either. Lots of cute moments, but doesn’t add up to anything super engaging.

I read the manga a long time ago and agree that it isn't the most engaging series. I agree with the reviewer that the concept is unique but it doesn't take advantage of it.

But if you just want a comfy read/watch, then it serves its purpose. In the end, I was content.

I would actually disagree with them not maximizing the premise, at least in some regard, because we see them applying their youth a lot to what they would do as old people (which keeping to their routine was very in-character for them) and informing the relationships around them and some renewed vigor of life that kept them going up until the last episode.

Overall I found this a very pleasant, heartwarming, and bittersweet series that was not only fun but had a lot to say about life, love, and what the passage of time really means.

Of course first you need to get past the episode where the granddaughter and daughter-in-law have the hots for grandpa.

Also I love how they had an Initial D parody with Shinichiro Miki.

It was an alright show that had some standout moments.

Was it a 4-panel gag manga? Because it felt that way. In that case it would make sense why the format may not have allowed for complexes stories.

It is definitely a show that needs to be enjoyed at an easier pace and not binged. And it ends well.

The comedy is hit and miss. It is actually the more serious and insightful moments of the show that work well.

Worth a view imo if you are up for something different. But it does feel like wasted potential, although for the couple, it might have been fitting with their mental age and characters to simply enjoy a quieter life despite their youth, as they already had a full and satisfying life, so having each other, there were only a few things left they really wanted to do.

Oh wow, a review, awesome! I was hoping for one, this show seems super cute and-

"Grandaughter has a crush on grandpa"

Welp.

Lasts all of one, maybe two episodes and then outside of that they start developing other relationships for basically every character not already in one (see: the parents), so it's really a non issue.

It's more "having a crush on them" in the same way as viewing them as an idol they have the hots for, not genuinely "She wants to get in there"

Overall, wholesame and cute series. Some times unhinged for enjoyable laughs but it gets pretty serious from time to time (i. e. spoiler[when the family visits Ine's older sister who can't remember her due to dementia but when they shared the piano and played a song together like they did when they were kids was so heartwarming and sad at the same time]). In its serious moments it reminders the viewers that death is inevitable.
