I got 8 volumes of this and its pretty cool but i nearly had to drop the series due to dark horse and their inability to keep things available.

<looks> A small correction: it's Sunshine Cleaning, not "Sunshine Cleaners". (I'll keep an eye out for it.)
I certainly enjoyed The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. |

I've gotta admit something. This manga is pretty darn weird. Nowhere else are you going to find chopped off heads in vending machine-style containers. That's pretty wild. This is almost like the old EC Comics of the 1950's. I remember reading in a book about horror comics once that those comics were pretty wild too. One comic had a baseball story that...well...wasn't like any other baseball story you've read. I hesitate to even tell you about it. It was stuff like that had held Senate hearing on comics in 1954.
Old William Gaines would have loved this manga if he were still around. But,I also have to give "The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service" credit for something as well. It,at least, deals with the atrocities that the Japanese military committed during World War II. That'll almost be very interesting to read as well. |

I only read 3 or 4 volumes of Kurosagi but I enjoyed the little I read. Like what the Shaenon said, I think the writing and Carl Horn's localization is the best part. The artwork is decent, and the story is pretty much episodic police/detective procedural stuff, but the witty banter between the characters and the dry humor is great. Honestly, I kept reading it just to see what hilarious things the characters would say.

Glad to hear that DH will be continuing their release of this series after a hiatus since 2012: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/07/05/dark-horse-comics-brings-back-the-kurosagi-corpse-delivery-service-and-introduce-us-to-panty-stocking-with-garterbelt/.

On a related note: A few years ago I lost Vol.1 of Kurosag; I was practically certain I'd left it at work. I was scared to death my workers were going to label me as a sociopath after skimming through it (I believe the first volume had a character into necrophilia), so I went straight to work and looked for it like it was incriminating evidence. Luckily, I didn't leave it at there. It turns out I dropped it on my front lawn, and it'd been lying there for a day. I ended up dropping the series - not because of this experience - but because of its episodic nature and "monster of the week" plots. |
