I wonder which VA they are referencing?
Hint- That's sarcasm by the way. Which VAs actually work for the dubbing companies Im interested in. I know Chris Sabat works at Funimation or did anyway. Who are the others? |

I'm morbidly curious since I have no knowledge of the American VA scene at all other than some Yuri guy being in every production. |

Obviously this is in reference to the Vic Mignogna article published here recently. There’s literally no possibility that Vic would be the target of a smear campaign by a company, though, as he is one of, if not THE, only actor to have lasting major connections with all three major dubbing cities. Besides, we all know that people who accuse victims of launching a smear campaign are primarily blind fanboys or those ignorant to the seriousness of the situations (for the record, I’m not saying that the person asking the question is one of them).

Michael Sinterniklaas owns NYAV Post, but he acts for Funimation and whoever else wants him. |

That is certainly one of the more ridiculous theories I've seen lately. At best, I hope that it is simply coming from a place of ignorance that VAs are traditionally freelancers. All a company has to do is pick from any number of other actors during casting, so it wouldn't even be worth the effort.

Currently, every director at funi is also a VA, as well as about a 1/4 of their writing staff. |

This positions are still mostly contract work. They get paid by the project, and not as a full time employees in most cases. They are considered independent contractors, just like actors, writers, and directors in most films and TV shows. There are some full time employees that do voice act, but as the article states, those are the exception and most only do voice work as a side gig to their primary employment. |

Not even Sean Schemmel as Goku would have any clout?

This is a silly question. Actors are replaced in roles in whatever language all the time. If that actor dies, gets in a serious scandal, or is just insufferable to work with, they will and have been dropped before. Not saying this will always sink an actor's role, but recasts are part of the business. No amount of sentimentality among fans or staff is going to sabotage that.

Guys, the person did say he thought voice actors are freelanced. It’s not like he’s unaware of that factoid. He just seems to be ignorant of where that leaves the companies that get them to do work.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s nearly as cut and dry as Justin makes it out to be. If a voice actor is in a role, Funimation in particular will try to get you back. I’m pretty sure they won’t try to sweep your crimes under the rug, though, as evidenced by what happened to Scott Freeman. |

For most shows they might be "expendable...but I challenge you to try and replace Goku or Vegeta's VA's and see how that works out.
Spoiler alert, It sure as fudge won't work out in the companies favor. It would most likely be disastrous. |

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a conspiracy since harassement is a real issue in many places, but I can kinda see where those people are coming from.
If a guy is harassing me, I push him away and ask him to not touch or talk to me. If he doesn't stop or even starts to be forceful, I call the police. Saying nothing, beheaving like everything's fine around him and then later call him out on social media trying to ruin his reputation and career seems really odd and kinda deceitful to me. He doesn't even get a chance to apologize like that. I'm sure there would've been other ways to settle this, be it with or without police. |
